alternative to tournaments

xD something even better than tournaments... play singles/doubles matches on your own time. Whats the use of rallying 24/7 when you can play a real match and get your mentality, strategy, etc. down. Matches help a lot... Something that I don't see going on often are matches. Players like Vincent, Theo, Alan, etc. are up there because they play so many matches. Best of three sets, tie-break, pro sets, etc. Whatever counts.

Doubles Tournament 10/24/09

So this month's dubs will most likely be held on 10/24. Let me know if anyone has any issues with that date. Also, the girls' captains have proposed to do a mixed doubles tournament instead of our usual. I'm down for it. I like the idea of building better team spirit by doing this tournament. As much as I'd like to focus on stats and results to see the best doubles team, I think it would be great to include the girls in at least one of our events. Besides, mixed doubles are fun. ...

Free Hitting Day

There will be a court free for the guys at Arroyo High School Tennis Courts. This is not mandatory. There will be a basket or two of balls for you to practice your skills. Depending on the amount of people show up, you can do drills, practice serving, volleys etc. I will be around to assist and build upon your level. Also, depending with my assistance, the girls have first priority and this is just considered an invitation to practice instead of hanging around doing nothing, or fooling around ...

Spring Break BBQ/Tournament

I'm just wondering if we're going to have prepractice at all. No one seems to be organizing anything. Mabye the people that go there almost everyday could organize a prepractice? I'm not really in a position to teach people but I'd help if you guys need help. I think prepractice would be especially important for newbies and people who are rusty. Also, a lot of us have become out of shape and you cant suddenly do conditioning out of the blue and expect to be perfectly in shape.

I'm really excited about this young prospect. He seems to play similiar to Donald Young(fast racquet head speed, and high paced backhand), but he has more court sense and variety. He got a set off Nadal on grass and beat James blake on hard, so guy kid has a lot of potential I hope to see him play Novak, Safin, etc. at the US open soon Not to mention his asian ethnicity
